A large engineering business operating from factory buildings originally constructed in the 1960s incurred substantial costs attempting to heat the areas for their workforce. Our recommendations to overcome the excessive heat loss through the roof identified during our survey, involved installation of de-stratification fans to push warm air back down towards the floor before reaching the roof. This solution was more cost effective than installing roof insulation and reduced annual heating costs by 40%. Whilst installing the fans on site, the opportunity was taken to replace the factory lighting with high efficiency versions resulting in 25% lower running costs.
