A major vegetable producer was being encouraged by the supermarket group it supplies to "go green", the client turned to Carbon Control Limited to identify ways of reducing their energy costs and at the same time demonstrating their commitment to the environment. With an annual electricity bill approaching £1 million and 24 hour operations, a feasibility study for on site electricity generation resulted in a recommendation for a third party to build and operate a wind turbine on site with the client purchasing the electricity produced. Overall this provided the opportunity for a saving in excess of £200,000 per annum.
